I am Patrice Nerad.

I have never been one to seek the spotlight. My life has been a quiet path of service — to causes of justice, to communities in need, to the deeper call of the Feminine heart.

I have walked in the worlds of non-profits, organizational leadership, advocacy, and education — always seeking to bring story, Spirit, and soul wisdom into places where systems too often reduce people to numbers and labels.

In 2006, I was thrust into a battle I never sought — when my life was violently upended by an unwarranted and illegal civil commitment driven by systemic betrayal. What followed was a 16-year battle against medical fraud, legal malpractice, and institutional corruption — a battle that ultimately led to a rare court vacate, which acknowledged that the commitment “should never have happened.”

At the Threshold Between Worlds

What I came to understand — through my own ordeal — is how far the fields of psychiatry and medicine have strayed from what is truly healing. When Spirit is denied, when the body’s wisdom is ignored, when sacred story is stripped away — systems become instruments of harm, not healing.

It is from this place that I now stand, as a bridge between worlds

Between the Feminine wisdom path of healing and inner knowing and the legal and medical worlds where systems too often betray the sacred.

Between those who have been silenced — and the greater collective that must hear them.

The Books

My doctoral dissertation, Separation from the Real: The Power of Story at the Heart of the Civil Commitment Process, was born of necessity — a way to place my lived experience into the academic record, and to expose how legal and medical narratives can be used to erase truth and disempower the human soul.

Power to Silence (2025) builds upon this foundation — offering a powerful literary examination of the wrongful use of civil commitment, the stripping of truth through false narratives, and the human toll of systemic betrayal.

The Rising Phoenix (2025) is a deeply personal memoir of trauma, transformation, and resurrection. It is also an initiation text: a book about the resurrection arc of Christic Heart Consciousness, and the deeper mysteries inherent in the soul’s path. It speaks to those called to walk through life’s great initiations — whether through systemic betrayal, sexual assault, spiritual attack, relational collapse, or the dark night of the soul — and to those seeking to reclaim voice, dignity, and soul sovereignty after life’s deepest woundings.

Why I Speak

I do this work not for recognition, but because it must be done.

We are living in a time when legal, medical, and governmental systems are increasingly used to silence dissent, pathologize difference, and destroy the very essence of the human spirit.

In point of fact, I left the world of psychology and psychiatry in my very early twenties — when I saw, with clear eyes, what was truly happening behind the scenes. I walked away — unwilling to lend my life to systems that harm.

Never could I have imagined that decades later, I would be dragged back into this world — not by choice, but by force — through events that unfolded beyond my worst nightmares.

I resisted touching this realm again — for years. But the Creator had other plans.

In time, I came to see that what I had endured was not only personal — it was emblematic of a much larger story. A story that continues to harm countless lives. A story that has been spoon-fed to us through every medium since the dawn of the 1980s — woven into culture, policy, and public belief.

And so I speak — not because I seek to, but because silence is no longer an option.

This must change.

And change begins with voice — with those of us who have walked through the fire speaking what we know to be true.
